The American Bully is also sometimes called the Bully pit or American Bully Pit. t is often thought that the American Bully is a type of Pitbull but this is not true. These two breeds are actually completely different.
History –
The
American Bully originated in the United States. The American Bully breed was
established in the mid-1990s with the purpose of creating the ultimate family
companion. The American Bully was created through years of selective breeding
by combining the desired traits of the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier and the
AKC American Staffordshire Terrier.
Personality
and appearances – They are a small to large breed divided into
four categories Pocket (shorter version), Standard (medium size dog with bulky
muscular body, Classic (lighter body), and XL (biggest type). A Standard American
Bully has a body mass with the thick-set sturdy build and proper muscle tone.
The dog’s head is in proportion to its body. Note that the traits above are the
general appearance of Bully Breeds and variations are depending on their size. They
have the most athletic and very well-defined muscular bodies Along with a
broad, deep chest and body.
Height 13-23 inches (depends on the classified type)
Weight 20-60 kg
Coat - short, smooth and glossy
Colour- all colours
Life - 8-13 yrs.
Litter Size - 4-8
IT is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog
that is very full of life. Highly
protective of his owners and the owner's property. This unique breed is noted
for displaying extreme tolerance with children and an overwhelming eagerness to
please its family. Confident, yet not aggressive, this breed possesses a very
pleasant temperament.
Health - The
most common disorder is Hip dysplasia affecting canines and it is genetically
inherited. Beware some Bully breeders give their dogs steroids to produce a
large muscular body. When the drugs are stopped the dog's body shrinks back
down to a normal size, but leaves the dog with many health issues including
organ and joint problems. Sometimes these drugs get passed from mother to
puppy. If you are in the market to adopt a Bully be sure to find a drug- free
breeder.
Grooming
- The
smooth, short-haired coat is easy to groom. Brush on a regular basis with a
firm bristle brush, and bathe or dry shampoo as necessary.
This breed is an average shedder. The only disadvantage of
the dog’s coat is that the animal can get cold too quickly. The sweater or
jacket is going to be helpful to the dog (Prefer warm climates). Trimming nails
and cleaning ear should be part of grooming routine.
Exercise –
American
Bullies must have plenty of regular exercise including a long brisk daily pack
walk to relieve mental and physical energy. Dog agility is a physical activity
that requires jumping, dodging and crossing obstacles. This exercise also
counts as obedience training. American Bullies will do okay in an apartment if
it is sufficiently exercised. They are very active indoors and will do alright
without a yard provided.
Training –
Training
also includes socialization with other animals or people and making the puppy
accustomed to its environments. The obedience training early on (while they are
puppies) will help them develop into a well-adjusted, well-mannered adult. Training
your dog can be a great way to bond with them.
Food - The
food should be high-quality and nutritious. How much food you give to your dog
depends on it an appetite, but the general rule is not to overfed or underfed
your pet. Check with your vet if you have any concern about your dog’s weight
and diet. Watch your dog’s calorie consumption and weight level to protect from
overweight.
